The film stars Christian Slater as a nosy armored truck driver who defends his cargo in a flooding rural town from a group of masermind criminals led by Morgan Freeman. Filled with inexplicable Christian imagery and sassy trap-setting Betty Whites, this ‘Die Hard during a flood’ film is a singular wonder. THIS EPISODE’S DRINK: Our Lord and Slater
This sweet, refreshing drink combines apple and sage flavors to make for a nice, julep-y bit of crispness that is exactly the kind of thing you’d want on a rainy day – especially one as rainy as Christian Slater goes through.
2 parts white apple brandy
2 ½ parts apple juice blend (Golden delicious and Granny Smith)
1 part sage syrup*
*To make the sage syrup, combine about ¼ cup of sage leaves, 1 cup of water, ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup honey in a saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the syrup coats the back of a spoon. Keep it in a squeeze bottle and use to spice up all manner of drinks!
Combine brandy, apple juices and syrup in a Collins glass with ice, and garnish to your liking.
