The Wrong Guy (1997)

This week on the podcast, guest Nick Ostrem joins us to talk about the little-seen but widely under-valued 1997 Canadian comedy The Wrong Guy! Dave Foley (The Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio) co-wrote and stars in this cult caper about an oblivious, melodramatic account executive (Foley) who wrongly presumes he’s being wrongfully accused of his boss’s murder. THIS EPISODE’S DRINK: The Wrong Chai

Given this film’s Canadian roots, we decided to spice up some stereotypically Canadian ingredients (maple, bourbon, maple bourbon) with a little chai to keep you warm this chilly winter. We also added some bacon bitters to bring it all home to Nelson’s unfortunate episode with tainted ham in a can.

Jim Beam Maple bourbon
1 bag, your favorite chai tea
8oz water
dash, bacon bitters

• Make a cup of your favorite chai tea (ours is Ruby Red or Rooibos chai), and let steep for 2-3 minutes.
• Add .5 oz Jim Beam Maple bourbon and bitters. Serve with tainted canned ham.

DRINKING RULES FOR THE WRONG GUY:

1. Whenever someone changes outfits
2. Anytime Detective Arlen (David Higgins) misappropriates federal funds
3. Every time a character gives a pregnant pause in his line delivery. (e.g. when Dave Foley oversells the tragedy of his life on the run)
