This week, Jared and Clint (and guest panelist Cherish) revisit a tale as old as time, just in time for its 3D rerelease – 1991’s Beauty and the Beast! This Disney animated film was the first animated picture to be nominated for an Academy Award, and its smooth animation and energetic charm continues to delight. Oh, and Jerry Orbach plays a talking candelabra, which is all the reason really needed.
THIS EPISODE’S DRINK: The Gray Stuff (NOTE: The drink itself is not gray, but it is most certainly delicious.)
1 part pear cider
Rose petals
Muddle rose petals; mix with equal parts Lillet and cider in ice. Shake or stir. Pour into chilled wine glass, garnish with fresh rose petal.
DRINKING RULES FOR BEAUTY AND THE BEAST:
- Anytime someone ‘swooshes’ their cape dramatically
- Whenever the Beast (or Belle/Gaston) receives dating advice
- Anytime someone speaks in French
FINISH YOUR DRINK WHEN:
Belle exclaims, “This is all my fault…” to a dying Beast.
Join us next week, when we examine one of the more inexplicable buddy comedy pairings in cinematic history – the Sylvester Stallone/Dolly Parton country music disaster Rhinestone!
