The Notebook

notebook In this week’s episode of Alcohollywood, we tackle the 2004 romantic period piece The Notebook, where life is simpler, everyone important is white, and all that is standing in the way of true love is a mountain of cliches that make none of it the man’s fault. Head out to your Southern patio, sit back in your favorite rocking chair, and enjoy the fact that you have land with these drinking rules!

THIS EPISODE’S DRINK: The “What Was It Called Again?”

notebook cocktail1 part bourbon whiskey (Jim Beam or other) 1 part 100% pear juice 2 parts ginger ale 1 sprig of muddled mint (NOTE: roll mint leaves in hand, then slap hands with mint between them to release flavor.) Add all ingredients into tumbler; shake well. Serve over ice.

DRINKING RULES FOR THE NOTEBOOK:

  1. Shots of water (lakes, rain, etc.)
  2. Whenever someone naysays or says ‘no’ to someone else (denials)
  3. Anytime someone laughs way harder than they should be.

FINISH YOUR DRINK WHEN:

Allie (Rachel McAdams) says post-coitus: “You have GOT to be kidding me.” Stay tuned next week for our special Alco-Halloween episode, 1965’s Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors. If you have suggestions for a film for which we should make a drinking game, please email us at contact.alcohollywood@gmail.com. Thanks for listening!
